This is an invitation to learn Classical Five-Element Medicine, an ancient and most beautiful and effective system of medicine based on the laws of Nature. This is an approach to restoring health and balance that views each person as whole in Body, Mind and Spirit. I have practiced this medicine for many years and have a deep commitment to sharing the foundational principles of Five-Element Medicine. With deep gratitude I now have the time and the capacity to present this training.  With this system ‘under your belt’, you will be able to serve many people as you apply it in your practice. Join us for an amazing, insightful experience that will touch you to your core. The training will be held in Lafayette, Colorado and is open to:

The Heart and Soul of Classical Five- Element Medicine 

Happiness and vitality are the expressions of our innate connection with the forces of Nature. Classical Five-Element Medicine has the power to restore our harmony with these forces of Nature. When we are in harmony with Nature, our eyes sparkle with vitality, our life force flows like a river, our heart radiates the warmth of fire and our inspiration manifests as clear and vast as the open sky. This is true health and well-being. This training presents the entire core teachings of Classical Five-Element Medicine. It offers acupuncture point location and needling if you are licensed to use needles, as an optional add-on.

Overview of the Training

Basics of Five-Element Medicine – You will learn the fundamental natural laws of balance and harmony, including The Law of Five Elements, The Five Elements and the Twelve Officials/Organs, Meridians.

Traditional Diagnosis – You will cultivate your innate sensory perceptions of to See, to Hear, to Ask and to Feel, resulting in your ability to recognize the Color, Sound, Emotion and Odor. You will develop your Rapport skills culminating in a complete Case History Intake, Physical Examination, pulse picture and Causative Factor (CF) Diagnosis. This will guide your Treatment Plan.

Treatment Planning – You will learn Treatment Planning, including identifying and addressing various energetic blocks, following the Law of Five-Elements and the use of the Spirit of the Points.

Point Location – Point Location is a separate module for those who are legally authorized to use  needles in their medical practices, for example, MDs, NPs, Dentists, Acupuncturists, etc. You will learn the Classical Five-Element style of point location, moxa and needle use. See the Schedule for the point location classes. (See Module II in the schedule below.)

Spirit of the Points – You will learn an abundance of what is called the Spirit of the Points and how to recognize in your patients when to use these points. If you are using Plant Spirit Medicine, this greater understanding of the Spirit of the Points will deepen your work with the spirit level of the plants as well.

Clinical Work – You will have the opportunity to both observe patients being treated with both needles and plants as well as have the opportunity to carry out treatments yourself under the supervision of a practitioner/teacher.

Homework: There will be required assignments between each session. This gives students the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the material and allow the teachers the opportunity to see how everyone is embodying the material.

Attendance: Full on attendance is required. There will be very limited opportunity to make up lost attendance.   Please view the schedule above and plan to attend them all.

Setting Up Your Practice – You will learn how to set up a thriving practice from A-Z, including addressing Ethical Standards, Boundaries and Patient Homework.

About Suzanne  I fell in love with Classical Five-Element Acupuncture more than 45 years ago when I saw the dramatic change in my sister shortly after she began treatment. Though it cured her debilitating abdominal pain, what really caught my attention was that she radiated ease, happiness and vitality. And such a sparkle in her eye! I knew without a doubt that I wanted to practice this system of medicine.

I began treatment immediately. Thereafter I embarked upon my studies at the Traditional Acupuncture Institute (MD) and the College of Traditional Acupuncture (UK). I graduated in 1984 and have had the good fortune to practice this effective and elegant system of ancient medicine for more than 40 years. I studied with Professor J.R.Worsley from 1983 until his death in 2003.

In 1993, in a most unusual way, I met Guadalupe Gonzales Rios, an elder Huichol shaman. I embarked upon a blessed and rigorous apprenticeship with him until his death also in 2003.

The foundation upon which I have stood for more than 50 years has been my work with Oscar Ichazo, founder of Integral Philosophy and the Arica School. Last, though not least, the love and support of my family has been the blessing of a lifetime.
